Castlewellan is a village in County Down, 11 miles Southwest of Downpatrick and 4 miles North of Newcastle. The site is located on the Drumbuck Road, just off the main road running through the village.
Adjacent to the site is Castlewellan Forest Park which covers 1,100 acres of land lying north of the Mourne Mountains. Within the forest there are a range of activates including walking, cycling and water based sports. Castlewellan Forest Park is one of Northern Irelands most renowned Mountain Bike Trails. There are green, blue, red and black trail options making it a must visit for mountain bike riders of all ages and abilities.
In 2015, the estimated number of overnight trips in Newry, Mourne and Down Council area was 404,442 which led to an approximate expenditure of £47.74 million.
