The Lake House, Coolure, Castlepollard, Co. Westmeath is located 2 miles west of Castlepollard, 12 miles from Mullingar and 60 miles from Dublin via the M4 (approximately 70 minutes drive).



DESCRIPTION
This is a newly converted mews house of exceptional quality in the upper courtyard of Coolure House. The main aspect is south with spectacular views across wooded parkland to Lough Derravaragh, one of the largest and most beautiful of the Westmeath limestone lakes, noted for its trout fishing. The courtyard itself is part of a remarkable complex of limestone buildings built beside a large Georgian house around 1780 by Admiral Sir Thomas Pakenham, younger brother of Lord Longford. It is still owned by the Pakenham family who live 2 miles away. There are four other mews houses recently created around the upper courtyard. This forms the final part of its development.



All tenants have access to the lake and there is a boating pier and boat house by the lake shore. Stabling and grazing for a horse or pony can usually be arranged with the local farmer who grazes the surrounding parkland and there are beautiful walks and rides along the lakeshore and through the surrounding woodlands of the estate. The lakeshore itself is a protected nature reserve and home to a huge variety of wildlife and flora
