Description

Seamark unquestionably occupies one of the finest coastal settings in West Cork. The house enjoys a charming edge of village location yet commands an unrivalled elevated situation overlooking the delightful Glandore Harbour with fine unobstructed southerly views out to sea and across the inner harbour to the fishing village of Union Hall.

Seamark was built in 1825 and extended in the 1920’s. The house has undergone a comprehensive restoration encompassing major refurbishment to all facets of the building structure including the demolition of the annexe and terrace and the building of a new East Wing. The works included a new roof with the majority of the original windows and shutters being restored with replacements specially manufactured to match the originals. The original main staircase has been restored along with the original doors, door linings, architraves and window panelling.  The ground floor has been finished in Oak whilst the basement hall is finished in marble. An oil-fired underfloor central heating system heats the house. Seamark offers bright and airy accommodation of generous proportion extending to over 600 sq m (6,500 sq ft) on three floors including three reception rooms, extensive kitchen and breakfast room, seven bedrooms and four bathrooms.

All of the services have been renewed throughout and external mains services and cabling re-routed underground. State of the art systems have been put in place to future-proof the property. The house is fully networked via CAT6 wiring to include a Digilinx entertainment system with individual room control and Cisco Systems IP telephone system. There is also a high specification security system, programmable lighting controls together with a 5amp lighting circuit and external floodlighting.

The gardens are a wonderful and particular feature of the property having been landscaped and planted to a first class standard. The gardens offer stunning views over Glandore Harbour and Union Hall and include a wide variety of temperate climate-loving trees and shrubs with lawns and terraces leading down to the edge of the property. Beyond the public road is approx 150 m water frontage.
