Description

Visually charming, and set in idyllic sheltered gardens c. 1/3 acre providing a glory of colour and bordered by a little stream, Easton Lodge was the residence of the late Count Tolstoy who also established a private language school here. Tastefully updated and extended in sympathy with the original, the house comes to market with modern conveniences enhancing period character; light-filled rooms; and fairytale gardens approached by a gravel avenue. Within c. 0.7km of Delgany Village where birdsong and church bells blend timelessly, the N11 / M11 and M50 link is truly convenient via Glen of the Downs; and Greystones DART station is within minutes' drive.

Once comprising two Bellevue Estate (La Touche) cottages which were first linked (to make one larger residence supporting a guest house and dairy farm); then vertically subdivided to form Easton House, Easton Mews, and Easton Lodge, this property has been witness to some interesting times and colourful people. Nephew to the author of War and Peace (Leo Tolstoy), Count and Countess Tolstoy lived out their days between 1950 and 1982 at Easton in genteel academic surroundings - she a Princess by birth, of Belgian extraction; he running a language school. The Countess reputedly maintained a keen interest in shipping with a copy of Lloyds Register to hand, and a telescope in the upper bedroom window, keeping an eye on maritime traffic on the Irish Sea.

Today this is a warm inviting home, somewhere to work and / or seek refuge from a busy world; but always in touch with essential amenities; village inns and shops, schools, public transport, leisure and sporting amenities - just minutes from the N11 for commuters and a few minutes' drive from Greystones DART.

Living accommodation extends to c. 179.1 sq.m / 1,928 sq.ft and is presented in good order.
