Location of property

Bohermeen is a beautiful village close to the towns of Navan and Kells. Bohermeen is the English corruption of the areas ancient gaelic name - 'An Bother Mín'. Originally, one of the five famed ancient roadways that led from the medieval capital of Ireland, Tara, cut through the area, and the quality of the roadway in an era of dirt-roads, earned for it the nickname of the smooth road - 'An Bother Mín'. Other historical places of interest within the parish are; Faughin Hill, a relatively high hill on the flat plains of Meath where it is claimed the ancient Irish King Niall of the Nine Hostages is buried, 'Ardbraccan House', a palladian country home occupied until 1885 by the Church of Ireland Bishop of Meath and 'Durhamstown Castle' an ancient tower house once owned by the Earl of Essex, Queen Elizabeth 1's Lord Deputy in Ireland. The parish of Bohermeen today consists of local pub, shop, football ground, primary school, community centre and Church and with the towns of Navan and Kells only a short spin away (c. 6·5km & 10km respectively); not only will one never be short of any amenity required for a modern lifestyle, but an abundance of historic and cultural monuments and activities can also be enjoyed. For the shopaholic Navan Town contains many well known high street names – ‘New Look’, ‘Lifestyle’, ‘A-Wear’ etc, Navan Shopping Centre, which hosts a multitude of amenities such as chemists, hairdressers, clothing stores, grocery stores etc, Trimgate Street, Navan's Main Street home to many long established local businesses. The long established town of Kells can be found lying west of the River Blackwater in the historic Boyne Valley. A wealth of historical monuments make for a very interesting town – Celtic High Crosses, Round Towers and the Spier of Lloyd to name but a few! With a rich cultural and architectural heritage, a thriving local economy, easy accessibility and a progressive attitude, Kells is bound to have a future every bit as successful as it’s past. There are a host of leisure amenities between the two towns - pubs and restaurants aplenty. For those who enjoy more sporting activities, there are several G.A.A. clubs, soccer clubs, rugby, Navan Athletics Club, swimming pools, gyms, handball, tennis, golf and pitch & putt to name but a few. Kells is home to what is regarded as one Ireland’s Top Ten Golf Courses – Headfort Golf Club - two beautifully sculpted parkland courses can be savoured and enjoyed. For perhaps more artistic tastes there is the recently opened Solstice Arts Centre next door to Meath County Library in Navan, the centre regularly plays host to art exhibitions, dramas, comedy shows, musicals etc. Between the towns of Navan and Kells there is a choice of several primary & secondary schools and Our Lady's Hospital, Navan is near at hand. With the residence located just off the N3, and in close proximity to the proposed M3 Motorway, it is within easy access to Dublin and the east coast road network. Also having the added benefit of being a short stroll from the bus stop with regular buses to Navan, Dublin and Cavan. CIE provide an exceptional bus service to Dublin City Centre - buses from Kells every 30 minutes and from Navan every 15 minutes during peak hours; it is also hoped that the Navan - Dublin rail line will re-open within the next five years. This is the perfect destination for homebuyers who want to combine modern convenience with the relaxed pace of country living - 'Life at Your Leisure'! From Dublin: Take the N3 into Navan. Travel under the stone arch railway bridge and at the 1st set of traffic lights in Navan turn left. Continue straight up to the roundabout and take the 3rd exit. At the next set of traffic lights turn left, continue straight up Brews Hill straight through the lights, passing the Hospital (which is on your left); you are now taking the Athboy Road (N51). At the roundabout take the 2nd exit, continuing on out the Athboy Road (N51) for c. 5.75km to the 2nd crossroads “Halltown Cross Roads” turn right. Continue straight keeping left at fork, go straight through next crossroads and continue to T junction. At T junction turn left and take immediate right. The property is the 1st on the right hand side.
