Valentia is one of the more scenic, untouched areas off the south coast of Kerry, an island steeped in history. Located on the south-eastern edge of the island, nestled from the Atlantic by the mainland, and is within a few minutes drive of the village which has a local shop, pub, number of restaurants and a quaint pier linked by ferry to the mainland at Portmagee.

The island is an ideal base to retire to. Activities on the island include fishing, cycling or hiking on the many nature trails and to the tip of the island, Bray Head. The more adventurous can enjoy deep sea diving offered by the local diving school. Local attractions include a boat trip to Skellig Rock, Killarney, Ring of Kerry Killarney, Derrynane House and a choice of spectacular beaches.
