Great care was taken to retain the property?s character by enhancing the splendid original period features.

Sharon Rectory is steeped in history. Indeed a gruesome double murder took place her back on 2nd March 1797, 209 years today.

Sharon Rectory was owned by Rev. Dr. Waller, Rector of Raymoghrey who lived here with his wife. On the fateful evening a Rev. William Hamilton, also a magistrate was returning home. However, some local men refused to ferry him across Lough Swilly due to bad weather. Thus, he stayed at Sharon Rectory. The united Irishmen were preparing for their insurrection which took place the follow year 1798. Magistrate Hamilton in him attempt to nip the insurrection in the bud incurred the wrath of the whole countryside. On the night in question an armed band came to Sharon Rectory and demanded that Dr. Hamilton be turned over to them. When this demand was not complied with shots were fired from outside through the dining room window. These shots killed Mrs Waller, the wife of the Rector and owner of Sharon Rectory. The Rector and his wife were very popular locally and well known for their generosity. The servants then angered by the death of Mrs Waller and possibly fearful for their own lives opened the door and put out Mr Hamilton where he was duly murdered on the door step.

Sightings of ?A Blue Lady? believed by the spirit of Mrs Waller have been reported in the dining room and other rooms up to recently. Indeed photographs taken by the real Estate Agents of the dining room have shown up very unusual blur or a blob like image ? Orbe, We are convinced.
